The Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers Decoration - entitling the recipient to the post-nominals V.D. - was instituted and awarded from May 1899 to all colonial forces, except India.Â
It was issued: For 20 years of efficient service as a Commissioned Officer in the Militia or Volunteer Force. Retired officers who qualified were also eligible, if they had not received the Volunteer Officers' Decoration (or Victoria Decoration). Again, a 10 year component in other ranks contributed to the qualification period.
The decoration was replaced by the Efficiency Decoration in 1938.
